Richardson’s Ocean Park

Wanna feel the tropical Hawaiian sand squeeze between your toes? This beach park is a great local secret! Sea turtles often frequent this convenient beach park at the edge of Hilo bay. The warm waters are perfect for relaxation. The beach park is perfectly positioned for great views of Mauna Kea. Bring a snack or picnic lunch for an unforgettable, uncrowded beach with all-natural amenities. The beach park features natural landscaping, fresh water ponds, peaceful swimming, large ocean breaks, sea turtles, and good atmosphere. Great spot for children, families, and couples.
Getting Here:
Take HWY 11 south towards Hilo. Turn right onto Kamehameha Avenue (State HWY 120 towards Keaukaha Beach Park). Richardson Beach Park is the last park (located on the ocean side of the road). There is usually parking available. However, sometimes you might need to park on Oeoe Street and walk to the park.
