Here’s a shortlist of popular things to see and do in the Village.
Volcano Garden Arts
Volcano is a mecca for creative minds, artists and artisans. Volcanoes Garden Arts is proof of that. This gallery, situated in a historic farmhouse, is surrounded by delightful gardens and an expertly curated art collection. Visitors may enjoy a leisurely stroll through grounds every day from 10 am to 4 pm.
Kapoho Warm Ponds
Kapoho Warm Ponds is about an hour drive from Volcano, but so worth it. Here, you’ll find an unusually large collection of tide pools and spring-fed watering holes that stretch nearly a mile. Bonus, some of the pools are warmed volcanically and the water is always calm. Crowds are rare.
Volcano Golf Course
This 18-hole course is tucked behind the rim of an active volcano. Here, you can play a challenging round of golf and enjoy pristine views and cool highland temperatures. There’s also an on-course restaurant you can visit for refreshments.
Volcano Village Farmers’ Market
If you’re looking for local, fresh, food don’t miss the Volcano Village Farmers market. Here, you’ll find organic produce grown in paradise. You’ll also meet local vendors and get a feel for life on the island. Featured items include everything from fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, crafts, clothes, and more. Volcano’s market is open every Sunday from 6 am to 10 am.
Volcano Winery is family-owned and known as one of the most unusual in the world. Located at 4,000 feet above sea level, it produces traditional wines (reds and whites) with exotic local fruits, honey, and estate-grown tea. Volcano Winery is open for tastings year-round, every day.
Volcano Art Center
Another arts center at which to enjoy the works of over 200 local arts. The center offers an ongoing schedule of events such as yoga classes, hula, concerts, and cultural demonstrations. Free guided rainforest nature walks are offered every Monday morning at 9:30.
