We know you work hard and when you finally get the chance to take a breather, we want you to be able to make the most of it. We’ve got 5 tips to help you make the most out of your Big Island vacation.
The Big Island is Big
Planning ahead can be a life saver. Doing some homework ahead of time to get an idea of which activities make it to your itinerary will save you a lot of vacation time while actually here on the island. Understanding the size of the Island and where your must do activities are located will keep you from wasting valuable time going to and from.
Rent a Car
While there are opportunities to utilize public transportation, having access to a car of your own will give you the ultimate freedom and flexibility you may desire on your trip. Renting a car can help you get off the beaten path allowing you to really explore our beautiful Big Island. To make renting a car even easier on our guests, we’ve partnered with both Thrifty Car Rental and Dollar Rent A Car.
Consider Departing From a Different Airport
To really get the most out of your Big Island vacation, fly into one side of the island and depart from the other. If you map out your start and your finish, you will be able to have amazing adventures in between. Fly into Hilo International Airport and leave from Kona International Airport. Or vice versa!
Check Out Some Local Events
Local events are a great way to maximize your vacation and get a taste of the local culture. And in a place like Hawaii, there is a lot of culture to experience. Attend a luau or catch some hula dancing. Or how about a Farmers’ Market? There are tons of excellent ways to immerse yourself in a little Hawaiian culture on the Big Island.
