Celebrating 4th of July in Volcanoes Hawaii? Then get ready for some serious summertime fun. The lineup of Independence Day celebrations on the Big Island is really outstanding this year. You’ll find plenty of fun ways to enjoy the holiday including parades, family-friendly activities, and – of course – fireworks displays. Here’s what’s happening around the island.
Kona July 4th Parade and Fireworks over Kailua Bay
Fireworks over Kona’s Kilauea Bay are set to begin at 8 pm. Prior to the big show, the 24th annual Kilauea-Kona 4th of July Parade is scheduled to begin at 6 pm. Tip: for best views, pick a spot along Ali’i Drive.
Waikoloa Beach Resort July 4th Fireworks and Events
Waikoloa Beach Resort shopping centers are hosting several family-friendly festivities this year.
Independence Day celebrations at Kings’ Shops begins at 10 am and is scheduled to run until 6 pm. Don’t miss the 28th Annual Waikoloa Rubber Duckie Race, a fundraiser for the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawaii. The race starts at 3 pm.
Queens’ MarketPlaces will offer live entertainment, face painting, cotton candy and other snacks at the Coronation Pavillon beginning at 2 pm. Finally, The Waikoloa fireworks display at the Waikoloa Bowl is scheduled to begin at 8 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
29th Annual Turtle Independence Day Celebration at the Mauna Lani
One of the most beloved events on the Big Island is the Turtle Independence Day celebration at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows. Here, young honu (sea turtles) will be released into the ocean. In addition, Manua Lani is offering live entertainment and educational displays about the endangered sea turtle. This event is free, open to the public, and food and drink will be available for purchase.
Hilo Bay Blast Fireworks & Celebrations
Enjoy a full day of fun, games, cook-offs, live entertainment and more to celebrate 4th of July at the Hilo bayfront. Festivities begin at 7 am with a Salute to Our Veterans 5K Run/Walk. Later, the Hawaii County Band will perform at the Mo’oheau Park beginning at 7 pm. Fireworks over the bay bring the celebration to a close at 8 pm.
