Planning the perfect vacation to somewhere you have never been can be a cumbersome task. You scour the internet, travel sites and seek input from experienced friends and family to make sure your itinerary will allow you to hit all of the best during your brief stay. But how do you really know you are planning the best time for you? Here are some tips for traveling to Hawaii for the first time.
1. Don’t overthink it!
Sure, do you research and get an idea of the places you would like to visit and the activities you would like to participate in, but don’t schedule every minute of your trip before you even get here. Once on the island, you may find other attractions that interest you.
2. Plan to do nothing
Make sure you set aside some time during your vacation to do nothing. Take a walk, smell some tropical flowers, pop into local markets. Learn a little about Hawaiian culture and history. It’s all around us. See where the day takes you. Save a day to explore the simpler things on the island while keeping a chill pace.
3. Go for a cruise
Rent yourself a car and cruise the island. There is so much to explore on the island. Being able to take a drive (or two) will allow you to have the freedom and flexibility to wander into some really great adventures.
4. Volcanoes National Park
Of course, we can’t leave this amazing place off the list. Volcanoes National Park is like no other and really is a MUST on your itinerary.
5. Take a Hike
Hiking is a great way to explore the Island of Hawaii. Rainforests, waterfalls, volcanoes, beaches – we’ve got all of it. Simply amazing.
6. Relax
While there is much to see and do, it’s just as important to set aside time for relaxation. After all, this is a vacation! Go ahead and sleep in, take naps by the pool or sit and listen to the soothing sounds of the island.
7. Be Adventurous
Hawaii isn’t all about rest and relaxation. It may be a very tranquil environment, but you sure can have some adventures here too. Think outside of the box and try some authentic Hawaiian cuisine that you wouldn’t normally choose. Or catch a few waves on a surf board. The point is, get out there and try something new!
Hawaii can leave you feeling renewed, refreshed and exhilarated all at the same time if you do it right. One trip may not be enough to really explore all of the amazing treasures you will find along the way. While on your trip, keep track of things to do on your next visit. It is never too early to start planning your return visit to the island.
